The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) received the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001:2015 certification for its Quality Management System on loan processing and membership administration from TÜV Rheinland Philippines Inc. (TÜV-R) in awarding rites held at the GSIS Head Office in Pasay City.
“This is a testament to our continuing commitment to provide excellent service to our members and pensioners, and an inspiration to do better,” said Officer-in-Charge Nora Malubay-Saludares as she acknowledged the GSIS Team’s collaborative effort to achieve the certification.
GSIS met the requirements of the updated ISO version for the two processes. In 2015, GSIS was conferred the ISO 9001:2008 for its loan processing only.
The ISO-certified QMS of GSIS enables it to plan, control, measure, and improve the quality of its outputs.
GSIS’s QMS on membership administration includes the creation and updating of all active members’ and pensioners’ records. The records contain such information as length of service, periods with paid premiums, and basic monthly pension.
GSIS’s QMS for loan processing covers the process from the receipt of application up to crediting of loan proceeds to the electronic card (eCard) or Unified Multipurpose Identification (UMID) card of member- and pensioner-borrowers.
With an ISO certification, members and pensioners are thus assured that their records are an accurate basis in computing their benefits and their loans are processed and granted efficiently.
The new ISO certification is valid until February 17, 2020 subject to annual surveillance audit of the pension fund’s QMS.
“Our work has just begun. This year, GSIS faces another exciting challenge, as wepursue certification of our property insurance process under the Insurance Group,” OIC Malubay-Saludares said.
She presented the ISO certificate to new GSIS Board members present at the event, namely, Chairman Francisco T. Duque III, Trustee Nina Ricci Ynares-Chiongbian, and Trustee Lt. Gen. Alan R. Luga (Ret.).
