NILINDOL ng magnitude 6.5 ang Taiwan, ala-1:43 Linggo ng hapon, Hunyo 2.Naitala ng United States Geological Survey (USGS) ang lindol sa layong 25 kilometro timog-silangan ng lungsod ng Buli na may lalim na 14.4 kilometro at tectonic ang pinagmulan.
Kinumpirma naman ng Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), walang bantang tsunami sa bansa kasunod ng malakas na lindol.
“No destructive Pacific-wide threat exists based on the historical and tsunami data. However, earthquakes of this size sometimesgenerate local tsunamis that can be destructive along coast located within a hundred kilometers of the epicenter.
This is for information purposes only and there is no tsunami threat to the Philippines from this earthquake,” pahayag ng PHIVOLCS.
