A POLICE fact-finding team has already completed its investigation of an incident in Atimonan, Quezon last January 6 in which 13 people were killed including police and military personnel in an alleged shootout.

The result of the investigation was submitted to office of Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, Director General Alan Purisima who returned it back to the fact-finding team since the report was apparently ‘poorly organize’.

“The report was submitted to me this morning and I have it returned to them because the organization of the report was not good… it (submit) does not organize in a sense the facts of the case,” Purisima said in a press briefing.

The PNP chief said that he gave the fact-finding team until Monday night to reformat their report on the Atimonan incident, which is being investigated separately by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

“I gave them up to this day to reformat their report to me and be clear on what they are [threading] in their report… because there maybe facts that came out only now, but was not seen by them,” Purisima said.

In passing, the PNP chief said that the conclusion of the report of the police fact-finding team was there were 13 people dead inside two sports utility vehicle along the highway in Atimonan, Quezon.

“More or less, general facts were there [in the report] and there will correlation of the information that was already there, but we cannot completely finish the investigation, the NBI is the sole investigating agency,” Purisima said.

The PNP chief said that there were also some recommendation, but said that its not yet the proper time to divulge what were recommendation made by the fact-finding in their investigation of the Atimonan shooting incident.

“Yes, there were recommendation and we will be coming out with those recommendation, maybe in due time and those that can be acted, we will be acting on them,” Purisima said.
