THE Sunny Villas Condominium Corporation continues to operate nearly three months after receiving a closure order from the Bureau of Fire Protection-NCR office.
BFP-NCR Regional Director Chief Supt. Santiago Laguna signed the closure order on Feb. 5, 2013 after finding that the establishment consistently failed to comply with the Fire Safety and Protection Requirements pursuant to the provisions of RA 9514 or the Fire Code of the Philippines of 2008.
The closure order stated that the closure of the establishment shall be effected immediately upon receipt either by the owner/administrator or his representative in order to avert any unwanted danger to the general public.
Sunny Villas is located on Pearl corner Camaro streets in Fairview, Quezon City with more than 700 residential units.
Some unit owners have already abandoned the place for security reasons. They are asking Phinma Property Holdings, developer of Sunny Villas, to buy back their units.
“Obviously, Phinma failed to provide us with safe and proper housing,” said one of the unit owners. “So they have to return the money that we gave them for us to find a safer place to live in.” Noli Cruz
