POLICE on Sunday announced the arrest of a ranking communist rebel leader during an operation in a hinterland village in Benguet province.
PNP spokesman, Chief Supt. Generoso Cerbo Jr., identified the arrested communist rebel leader as Kennedy Bangibang.
The police official said Bangibang was arrested by joint police and military intelligence operatives at around 2pm at Bangao Proper Junction, Halsema Hiway in Abatan, Benguet.
Cerbo said Bangibang was arrested based on a warrant for murder issued by a court in Tabuk, Kalinga province.
The police official said Bangibang was secretay of Kilusang Larangan Gerilya (KLG) Baggao and has a P2.5m reward for his arrest.
The arrested rebel leader is presently undergoing investigation by regional intelligence unit 14, Cerbo said.
