A man was shot to death by his relative late Tuesday afternoon while he was gathering ‘tuba’ or palm-tree wine in a hinterland village in San Luis, Agusan del Sur, police reports said on Thursday.
Reports at the PNP national operations center in Camp Crame identified the victim as Reynante Cano, 43 and resident of Brgy. Ines in San Luis, while the suspect was identified as Teodoro Andres Cano.
The reports said that the shooting incident occurred at around 3:30pm Tuesday in the hinterland area of Purok 5, Sitio Lilio in the same village where the victim was reportedly collecting ‘hidyup’ or “tuba”.
Investigation revealed that the victim collecting ‘hidyup’ in one of the palm-tree when the suspect suddenly appeared below and shot the victim with a revolver and hitting him thrice resulting to his instant death, the reports said.
The reports said that the suspect voluntarily surrendered to the authorities after the shooting along with the firearm he used in the killing.
Investigation revealed that personal grudge and land dispute could be the motive for the killing as appropriate are now being reading against the suspect for filling in the courts, the reports said.
