“THE people placed their hope for change in the electoral process and yet they were disappointed of what happened yesterday on the actual election.”- Lean Flores National Spokesperson- Akap Bata Party-List
The Election Day welcomed the Filipino voters with numerous irregularities such as PCOS machine malfunction and shutdown. Contrary to the Commission on Election’s claim a day before the election that they are “99.9% ready for the election day”.
Based from the incident report of Task Force Poll Watch National Capital Region, there are 170 cases of anomalies and irregularities including PCOS machine malfunctions and shutdown, vote buying, military presence and other irregularities. These “glitches” as used by the Comelec has affected thousands of voters in NCR alone.
The voting time has ended. Then, the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV)’s partial and unofficial results was halted due to another irregularity of data transmission that is too high for the actual tallied precincts.
Reports showed above contradicts the statement of Comelec Chairperson Sixto Brillantes that the election yesterday was “generally okay”.
“The anomalies and irregularities from the actual voting up to the tallying of votes put us in doubt over the credibility of the election that appeared to be a blatant manipulation of the results. Akap bata calls for collective vigilance to expose and stop possible disenfranchisement and to fight for a credible election result. The country’s electoral process is one of the few exercises of our nation’s democracy and now is at stake, not only the electoral process but democracy in general and mockery in Filipino people’s democracy must be condemned,” Flores ended.
