THE party-list group Anakpawis today described as a “judicial mockery of the party-list system” the latest Supreme Court ruling allowing wealthy regional and national political organizations to join the party-list elections.
“The latest Supreme Court ruling legitimizes the continuing debauchery and bastardization of the party-list system. This is judicial mockery of the party-list system courtesy of the highest tribunal,” says Anakpawis party-list chairperson Randall Echanis.
Echanis said the “high tribunal’s ruling favors the ruling class, the elite, and traditional politicians and at the same time deprives the toiling masses of peasants and workers of genuine representation in the landlord and comprador-dominated Congress.”
The Anakpawis party-list called on the Filipino people to condemn and defy the Supreme Court ruling come the May 13 elections.
“We call on the Filipino people to oppose the SC decision by junking bogus party-list groups on May 13 and escalate street protests,” Echanis called.
