THE House of Representatives honored another Filipina who has made the country proud by joining the growing list of Filipino beauty queens who made it to the roster of the most beautiful women in the world.
In House Resolution 2981, Congress congratulates and commends Janine Tugonon for making first runner-up in the 2012 Miss Universe Pageant held on December 19, 2012 at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino Resort Hall in Las Vegas, United States of America.
Tugonon, who was accompanied by Rep. Lani Mercado-Revilla (2nd District, Cavite), came to the House of Representatives to receive her copy of the resolution at the plenary hall where she was warmly received by Members and staff of the institution.
Mercado-Revilla, author of the resolution, said Tugonon’s natural beauty and grace as a Filipina coupled with her commitment and sacrifice to compete in the pageant have won the admiration of millions of Filipinos all over the country.
“She obtained a degree of Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy cum laude from the Pontifical and Royal University of Santo Tomas in 2010 in Manila before she joined and won as a first runner-up in the 2011 Binibining Pilipinas,” Mercado-Revilla said.
Mercado-Revilla said Tugonon’s being crowned as first runner up in the 2012 Miss Universe Pageant embodies the hard work and sacrifice that she and her supporters made as she joined the ranks of the most beautiful women in the world.
“She is an inspiration to every Filipina that beauty, grace, hard work and sacrifice can make a Filipina’s dream come true,” the lady solon from Cavite said.
Mercado-Revilla added that Tugonon deserves all the praise, honors and recognition for bringing pride, glory and honor to herself and to the country for winning the first-runner up title in the 2012 Miss Universe Pageant.
