ANAKPAWIS Rep. Fernando Hicap said President Aquino’s address “supporting the abolition PDAF or pork barrel” is nothing but a hypocritical call that aims to to prevent the planned Million People’s March vs Pork Barrel on August 26.
“We challenge the President to abolish the presidential pork barrel and exclude it from the 2014 national budget.”
“The President is not genuinely for the abolition or scrapping of pork barrel. He has only set selective guidelines wherein releases of public funds will be at his sole discretion,” Hicap said.
“The public must remain critical and vigilant. The multibilion presidential pork barrel at the discretion of Aquino is still intact. Pork barrel releases increased from 2010 to 2012 under Aquino’s presidency.”
“The President was forced to deliver such message to douse the swelling public discontent against PDAF and the squandering of taxpayers’ money,” the solon said.
“Malinaw na natatakot ang Malakanyang sa lumalakas na panawagan at galit ng mamamayan laban sa korapsyon at katiwalian sa gobyerno at paglustay ng pampublikong pondo,” Hicap said.
The solon called on sectors to remain vigilant and encourage more people to join the August 26 Million People’s March against Pork Barrel and Corruption in Luneta.
