THE Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday announced that it has solved last week’s rape-slay case of an eight-year old girl from Agusan del Sur following the arrest of one of the two suspects.
Caraga regional police commander, Chief Supt. Leo Napenas identified the arrested rape-slay suspect as Roque Eliot while still remaining at large and subject of manhunt was Lucas Galas Jr.
The police official said the two identified suspects were the last persons seen accompanying the victim, Kyla Bongcawil, a day before her body was found underneath a bridge in San Francisco, Agusan del Sur last week.
“Barangay tanods saw the two persons accompanied the victim and witness point to Eliot and he was arrested… warrant? Hope to come out today to pursue the other suspect at large… tracking them created,” Napenas said.
Bongcawil’s body, who was reported missing after failing to return from school last January 14, was recovered the following day underneath a bridge at a creek in Purok-2, Brgy. Bayugan-2 in San Francisco , Agusan del Sur.
The reports said the young girl’s body, when found was half naked with her short pants and her underwear was placed on top of her body that also bore deep puncture wound on her head and neck.
